OYCCIMA

Brief History

The Oyo state council of chmabers of commerce, industry, mines and agriculture otherwise known as OYCCIMA was established in 1987. State, council of chambers of commerce are formed as a result of arrangements between city chambers of commerce to present a common force to the governments in order to harness their recources  together to enable them to tackle econimic problems confronting the state and to all and sundry.

Therefore OYCCIMA was formed by the city chambers in Oyo state by then e.g Ibadan, Oyo, Ogbomoso, Osogbo, Ife etc. in order to keep abreast with other city chambers in Nigeria, who have formed themselves as a formidable force on this same pattern.

Presently, efforts are being made to spread the formation of city chambers to other impotant toward in the state, e.g. Saki, Iseyin, Okeho, Igbo Ora etc. The current President of the chambers is Chief Wole Akinwande. In line with its aims and objectives, OYCCIMA has been making joint representations to Oyo state government on matters relating to commerce, Industry and Agriculture in particularand economy generally.

Chambers of commerce, all over the world have the traditional role of promoting and protecting business interest in particular and economy in general in their area of operations. Also chmabers of commerce movement  is an economic pressure group or better still an organized priate sector – on organize attempt by entrpreneurs to influence economic and trade policies of government in their favour.
